I joined the Elkton Presbyterian Church where my wife had been a
member for many years. I was ordained an Elder at Elkton Presbyterian
Church and served on Session as Chairman of Property and Maintenance.
The Commissioned Lay Pastor Program was brought to my attention while I
was at Elkton Church.
I enrolled in the Commissioned Lay Pastor Program and completed it in
March of 2011. After one year in the CLP program, I preached at Elkton in
the month of June 2010. I served as pulpit supply at the Buckton
Presbyterian starting in September 2010.
After completing the CLP program I was commissioned as pastor of the
Buckton Presbyterian Church on May 10, 2011. I am also still employed at
the Page Co-op Farm Bureau in Luray Va.
My wife, Joanne is originally from Pittsburg, PA. Joanne has been
Director and teacher at the Saint Mark Lutheran Church Pre-School and Child
Care Center in Luray Virginia for 19 years. She has two children, Clay and
Sandy. She also has two grand children; Landon and Hannah.
I have five children, James Jr., Jennifer, Stephen, Kevin and Christina. I
have five grand children. They are Gabriel, Sarah, the twins (James and
Joshua) and Austin.
I believe, with all my heart, God has called me to pastor the Buckton
Presbyterian Church. I now understand that God not only calls you to
minister. He calls you to a particular place.
My wife and I are blessed to be a part of the Buckton Presbyterian
Church. God sent us the ultimate gift of love. We are called by God to share
that love. My wife and I experience that love at Buckton.
While at Hebron Colony Ministries I saw lives changed and broken spirits
healed through the preaching and teaching of the Word of God. I believe
with all my heart that it is my calling through the power of the Word of God
brought to us in the Bible to bring God’s message of love to the Buckton
Church and community and to nurture and encourage God’s children and my
brothers and sisters along their Christian journeys.
